Exploring the Area

Yesterday afternoon we went out for a ride. Our goal was to get to Micanopy. It is a small town north of here. It is a quaint little town filled with antique and interesting shops. The main street is only a few blocks long. The Herlong mansion is the bed and breakfast in town. It is one of the architectural delights. It is a town where you stroll not walk. It is meant to slow you down to appreciate the day. The sun was out, the temperature was warm and the company was great. Along the way to Micanopy we took the car tour of McIntosh, another small town mostly built in the late 1890's and early 1900's. You can follow a map of the city to identify more than 60 historical homes and buildings. It was fun to see the early style of homes in this city. It was once a thriving orange growing city until a big freeze came and destoyed the trees. One street is built around a big old tree. You must go around the tree to continue down the street. It was a great day enjoying the area.
